You configure Windows Update settings by selecting Windows Update from the All Programs Menu. In the Windows Update dialog box, you click Change Settings. The Change Settings dialog box is shown in Figure 12-1.

Performance-related information To prepare for future modifications to the ISA Server infrastructure, regularly collect information about ISA Server performance. As a best practice, collect information about the performance to establish a baseline and then regularly collect the same types of information to determine how the performance on ISA Server is changing. Usage information Regularly collect usage reports. This is useful for future planning and to monitor the current activity on the server. Security-related information Collect information about security-related events. This information allows you to develop a baseline of the normal security events, which makes it easier to detect an anomaly to that regular pattern. This information may also be useful to track the progress of a successful attack so that you can prevent such an attack in the future.

As part of collecting long-term information, also develop a strategy for archiving and regularly review the information. The time line for reviewing this information will depend on the types of information collected. For example, you may want to review the security-related information on a daily basis, the usage information on a weekly basis, and the performance data only once per month.

Important updates offer significant benefits, such as improved security and reliability. Recommended updates address noncritical problems and help enhance the computing experience. Optional updates (for example, device driver updates) are not downloaded or installed automatically.

In each case, develop a strategy for how you will detect these activities and then how you will respond when the event is detected. As part of this strategy, create an immediate-response plan, such as isolating servers or networks, or shutting down services, in the event of a security breach and a longer-term plan for investigating and mitigating the attacks.

ISA Server 2004 uses the Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Performance Monitor to assess server performance. When you install ISA Server

The script-level variables videoWidth and videoHeight determine the pixel size of the actual video node, reflectSize is the proportion of the node that gets reflected below it (see figures 61 and 67), and margin is the border around the whole area Because the scrolling list extends for the full height of the video area, listHeight is calculated using videoHeight, including its reflectSize, plus the top and bottom margin The fitWidth and fitHeight parameters are set on the MediaView node, causing any video to be scaled to the videoWidth/videoHeight area, but preserveRatio is set so the video is never stretched out of proportion Because a given video may be smaller, when scaled, than either videoWidth or videoHeight, we use the Stack node s nodeHPos and nodeVPos variables to fix the video centrally along the baseline of the area.
