To perform the actual layout, first we scan our child nodes to work out the width of each column and the height of each row. Rather than read the content sequence directly, we use a handy function inherited from Container, getManaged(), to process only those nodes that require layout. Two more inherited functions, getNodePrefWidth() and getNodePrefHeight(), extract the preferred size from each node. Having worked out the necessary column/row sizes, we do a second pass to position each node. Yet another inherited function, layoutNode(), positions the node within a given area (x, y, width and height) using the node s own layout preferences (if specified) or nodeHPos and nodeVPos. The result is the flexible grid we want, with each node appropriately aligned within its cell.

Only Internet Explorer can support Integrated Windows authentication. To support Netscape Navigator and other browsing software, you must select a different authentication method, such as Basic or Digest.

Lesson 1, Troubleshooting Performance Issues, discussed various methods you can use to improve performance on a computer that is not working as quickly as its user believes it should At worst, the computer might occasionally hang or take longer than expected to start up or shut down In summary, Lesson 1 is about performance tuning Sometimes, however, the problems associated with a computer go beyond the scope of tuning If a hardware component is inadequate for the task that the computer needs to perform, you should identify that component and either upgrade or replace it If a driver or OS component needs to be updated, you might need to download an executable file from the Microsoft Update site and also find out why that file was not downloaded automatically If a problem occurs regularly but is not reported to Microsoft, you might not be informed about a downloadable Microsoft solution.

1. Your Internet usage policy specifies that all users will be allowed full Internet access except that users are not allowed to download any executable files or Visual Basic script files. The IT Administration group is exempted from this restriction. You configure an access rule to prevent the All Users user set from downloading .exe and .vbs file types. Then you create a access rule that allows the IT Administration group to download these files. Then you configure an access rule that allows Internet access for All Users. You soon discover that any user is able to download executable files from the Internet. Why is this happening and how can you change the configuration to meet the company requirements

The GridBox class is an example of a layout node: a fully fledged subclass of Container that can be used over and over. But what if we want a specific, one-time-only layout; do we need to create a subclass every time The Container class has a sibling called Panel. It does the same job as Container, except its code can be plugged in via function types. We can drop a Panel into our scene graph with an anonymous function to provide the layout code, allowing us to create one-shot custom layouts without the use of a subclass. A full example of Panel in action will be presented in the next chapter.

The problem is in the priority of the rules. If the allow rule for Internet access to All Users is at the top of the list then no other rules will be evaluated and users will have full access. Deny rules or specific allow rules need to be first. The most general rules should be just before the default deny rule. You need to put the allow rule for IT Administration at the top, then the deny rule for .vbs and .exe extensions next, and then the general allow rule for All Users.
